In our garden we
have had a 40-year-old yew (Taxus). It was quite beautiful, but we weren’t really happy with it, because it was far too big and we couldn’t prune it on our own anymore. So we decided to chop it down.
As it was very big, we never thought, we could handle it on our own, but we tried anyway (with a simple hedge shear). To our surprise it didn’t take us more than an hour and a half to cut it down, with only the trunks (it turned out that there actually were two yew trees, grown together) remaining. 40 years of growing, cut down in less than two hours…but, to be honest, we are very glad, that it’s gone.
